Intensive Outpatient Program Los Angeles

It requires a lifetime commitment for a person to achieve long-term recovery from substance abuse. That’s why intensive outpatient treatment might be the next important step in your addiction treatment process.

At Jewel City Treatment Center, our unique outpatient services allow you to still commit to the responsibilities of your daily life while devoting a little time every day to your addiction treatment. Read on to learn if our intensive outpatient programs could be right for your successful recovery.

What is an Intensive Outpatient Program?

An intensive outpatient program (IOP) is a less  immersive level of addiction treatment, as it is intended to help you transition from treatment centers back into your everyday life.

Unlike partial hospitalization programs, IOP provides a lower level of care and requires you to participate in a few hours of treatment services three to five days a week. When you are done with your daily treatment, you are welcome to return to your life and responsibilities outside of your treatment program. This allows you to remain involved in your work and family life while still receiving the outpatient treatment you need.

When Should I Consider an Intensive Outpatient Treatment Program?

Intensive outpatient treatment is ideal if you have a less severe case of substance use disorder or if you have already participated in a residential treatment program. IOP treatment services are for those who are at a lesser risk of relapse and do not need extensive mental health services for co-occurring disorders with your substance abuse.

It is also crucial that you have a strong support system that you feel comfortable returning home to at the end of every day of your addiction treatment. Your friends and family should be ready to help you practice new life skills that you are learning in treatment as part of your recovery process.

The Outpatient Addiction Treatment Center Difference

The two main focuses of an intensive outpatient program are mental health services and life skills education.

As part of these goals, you will spend the majority of your time in IOP treatment participating in individual and group therapy. Through a variety of therapeutic services, you will work in a safe space to address the negative self-talk and mental health challenges that can lead to substance abuse issues. Group therapy and family sessions help you develop healthy relationships that are not hindered by drug and alcohol addiction.

Additionally,  our treatment team encourages you to participate in nutrition education and life skills practices that help you work on good coping skills in place of substance abuse for the future.
